Piobbico sightseeings/6

The mountain topped with clouds is Monte Nerone. An old popular saying around there plays: "When Monte Nerone wears hat, sell the sheep and buy the cloak".

Wordplay

This is a pun to me. In italian language "Piano" has a lot of meanings: project, flat, floor, plane, gently, carefully, etc. In this case, the meaning I want to give it is: "slowly". The red and white round is a road sign meaning: "do not drive over 50 Km/h (31 miles/h)". Now, from my POV, driving at 50 Km/h is really slow.

Piobbico sightseeings/4

Piobbico lies among Monte Nerone and Monte Montiego. Monte Nerone with its 1,525 mt is the lowest of the Appennine's major mountains. From my POV, this is better than being the tallest of the minors.

Piobbico sightseeings/3

Not far from Piobbico the Castello dei Pecorari rules the valley. Browsing the Internet looking for information about it, I found out that a project for rescuing, restoring and rebuilding the castle has been started more than a year ago. Good to know!

Piobbico sightseeings/2

Piobbico developed around the Castello Brancaleoni, a medieval castle built in the 13th century for the Brancaleoni family which has been restored in the last few years and that now accomodates Piobbico’s Civic Museum containing an impressive exhibition of fossils.

Piobbico sightseeings/1

Piobbico is a little village in Italy located on the Umbrian Appennines where I use to spend holidays. Among the wines produced in that Area, my preferred one is "Lacrima di Morro d'Alba".
