Howth sightseeings/7

This shot of St Mary's church is creepier than the one on the previous post, isn't it?

Howth sightseeings/6

St Mary's church, dating from the late 14th century, is the third of its kind in Howth.

The construction is surrounded by an open to the public graveyard, still in current use.

Dublin sightseeings/5

When I was trying to catch sunrise's light, this flock of swans flew towards me: I love the sequence shots feature of my new camera ;-)

btw, now it is more clear to me what William Butler Yeats felt in writing "The Wild Swans at Coole".

Howth sightseeings/5

The Howth Castle rises in a superb park above Howth village.

A popular legend about the Castle concerns an incident that apparently occurred in 1576. During a trip from Dublin, the pirate Grace O'Malley attempted to pay a courtesy visit to the 8th Baron Howth. However, she was informed that the family was at dinner and the castle gates were closed against her. In retaliation, she abducted the grandson and heir, the 10th Baron. He was eventually released when a promise was given to keep the gates open to unexpected visitors, and to set an extra place at every meal. At Howth Castle today, this agreement is still honoured by the descendents of the Baron.

Howth sightseeings/4

The Church of the Assumption is a Roman Catholic church built in 1899.
In point of fact, it is incomplete. The original designs included a spire which in true Dublin style was never completed. Many churches in the city and county never received their intended spires.

Howth sightseeings/1

During my last staying in Dublin I had the occasion to visit Howth, a little peninsula not far from Dublin.

From the Howth Summit it is possible to look up to Bailey Lighthouse. The first Bailey Lighthouse was built in 1667, but the current one was built in 1814.

I've no tools for macros, but 200mm served well even for this case.

I went on the flat-roof for shooting a sunset and picked up this blue sky.

Moonrise/2

I shot this one on the way from Piobbico to Sant'Angelo in Vado in a completely different period and place with regards to the one on the previous post.
It's true: Moon always shows same side to Earth :-)

Moonrise/1

I love early evening's Moon showing up on the horizon.
